Mrs. Jakub Room 207

Hello there, my name is Jill Jakub. I love teaching 2nd grade and working at Clara Barton. This is my 18th year teaching at West Mifflin Area School District. I started off in the district teaching 2nd grade at Homeville Elementary and I have been at Clara Barton since the 2011-2012 school year. I have always taught 2nd except for one school year I taught 3rd grade at Clara Barton. I am a University of Pittsburgh graduate and started off my teaching career working with a reading program at White Oak Elementary in the McKeesport Area School District. Although I love teaching reading and math, my favorite subject since I was in elementary school has always been Social Studies. I love teaching the facts and geography about the United States. Watching my students gain knowledge in my classroom is very fulfilling. I enjoy teaching hands on activities to keep them engaged along with great conversation. We enjoy STEM activities that are integrated into our current curriculum and love having fun while learning the fundamentals of 2nd grade. My goal has always been to make sure that my students are learning to their potential in a positive learning environment.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am married and I have twins. Their names are Max and Jenna. We enjoy bike riding together, taking walks around the neighborhood, and having game night. We also love to travel, especially to the beach. During summer break, we also try to pick a brand-new destination to visitI enjoy watching my own children learn through travel and I am able to share those experiences with my students.
