Mrs. Maria Williams Room 201

My name is Mrs. Williams and I teach Special Education.  I am so happy to be teaching at Clara Barton Elementary where I started my career 19 years ago.  I grew up in West Mifflin and feel honored to still be a part of such a wonderful learning community.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education at Duquesne University.  I also have a Master of Education Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Reading.  After getting my Masters in Reading, I realized teaching Reading is my true passion.  I love the science behind it and how our brain works when learning to read.  I actually love it so much; I went back to the University of Pittsburgh and got my Reading Specialist Certification.  I guess I just really love school!

When I am not at school, I live with my husband and our two sons. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books to my boys at bedtime, and doing every type of exercise you can imagine.  Running, Lifting, Yoga, you name it!  My entire family joins in on the fun too.  I believe being happy and healthy helps me to be a better teacher, mom, and wife.  I cannot wait to see how much my students grow this year.  It is my favorite thing about teaching!
